Samsung Galaxy S26 Leaks: Specs, Release Date, and the "Slim" Rumors

Samsung Galaxy S26 Lineup: Everything We Know So Far

With the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold having just dropped a few days ago, the tech world is already shifting its focus to the next big flagship: the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup.

Initially, rumors swirled about a massive rebranding—potentially seeing an "S26 Pro" or the cancellation of the "S26 Edge." However, recent reports suggest Samsung is pivoting back to familiarity. It looks like we are sticking with the classic trio: the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and the S26 Ultra.

But what about the S26 Edge? While there is no confirmation of a launch alongside the main series, leaks about a "Project More Slim" suggest the Edge might not be dead—just delayed.

Here is a deep dive into the specs, design changes, and features we expect to see in early 2026.

Display: Bigger, Brighter, and Private?

The display sizes are mostly staying consistent, with one exception. The S26 Ultra will likely retain its massive 6.9-inch screen, and the S26 Plus holds steady at 6.7 inches. However, the standard Galaxy S26 is rumored to get a size bump, moving from 6.22 inches to a marketed 6.3 inches, likely achieved by shrinking the bezels even further.

The M14 AMOLED Revolution The biggest news is the potential debut of the M14 AMOLED panel on the S26 Ultra. This next-gen technology promises:

  1. Higher Brightness: Sustained brightness potentially hitting 2,600 nits.
  2. Efficiency: A massive 44% reduction in power consumption.
  3. Refresh Rate: A possible jump to 144Hz.

While the Ultra gets the M14, the Plus and base models may stick with the previous generation M13 panels. Additionally, leaks from Ice Universe suggest a new "Flex Magic Pixel" technology—a built-in privacy mode that prevents people from peeking at your screen from the side, eliminating the need for physical privacy screen protectors.

Design: Thinner and Rounder

Samsung seems to be taking a page out of the ergonomic playbook. The overall design is expected to become rounder, moving away from the sharp corners of the past, making the phone much more comfortable to hold.

The S26 Ultra is also rumored to become a sub-8mm phone. While this thinness looks great, it raises questions about the S-Pen. Rumors hint that Samsung might drop the S-Pen digitizer (pressure sensitivity) to save space, or follow the Z Fold 7’s lead and remove the integrated slot entirely in future iterations. For now, however, it seems the S-Pen is safe inside the chassis.

Performance: The Snapdragon Powerhouse

Under the hood, the S26 lineup is expected to run on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (referred to in some leaks as the Legion 5). Early benchmarks are promising significant gains over the previous generation:

  1. 20% increase in Single-Core performance.
  2. 17% increase in Multi-Core performance.
  3. 23% boost in Graphics.

While the Ultra will likely use a custom "For Galaxy" version of this chip globally, the S26 and S26 Plus might see a return to in-house Exynos chips in certain regions.

Cameras: A Mixed Bag of Upgrades

Samsung’s camera strategy this year seems to be "refinement" rather than "revolution."

  1. Main Camera: The base S26 finally gets an upgrade with a new, larger 50MP sensor to capture more light. The Ultra retains the 200MP sensor, but with a wider f/1.4 aperture (up from f/1.7) for better low-light shots.
  2. Telephoto: Disappointingly, the 3x telephoto lens remains 10MP, and reports suggest the sensor size might actually be smaller than the S25 Ultra's.
  3. Video: A new codec potentially called APV (Advanced Professional Video) could arrive, offering near-lossless video recording. We also expect native Log video support with built-in LUT profiles for real-time color grading.

Battery & Charging: Finally Faster?

Battery capacities remain largely stagnant, with the Ultra stuck at 5,000 mAh and the Plus at 4,900 mAh. However, the charging speed is where the upgrade lies.

The S26 Ultra is rumored to finally support 60W fast charging (up from 45W). Additionally, the series is expected to adopt Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Charging (similar to MagSafe). The trade-off? We might lose reverse wireless charging to accommodate the magnetic array.

Release Date & Pricing

Based on historical data, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup to be unveiled in late January or early February 2026.

As for pricing, we hope Samsung maintains the status quo:

  1. Galaxy S26: ~$799
  2. Galaxy S26 Plus: ~$999
  3. Galaxy S26 Ultra: ~$1,299

The Verdict

The Galaxy S26 series appears to be a refinement year. While the M14 display and magnetic charging are welcome additions, the lack of massive battery increases or drastic camera hardware changes might leave some tech enthusiasts wanting more.
