Canon Cinema EOS C50 Leak: Compact Cinema Camera for Indie Creators
The Canon Cinema EOS C50, also known as the “EOS RC,” is making waves ahead of its expected launch. Leaked specs suggest a powerful compact cinema camera aimed directly at indie filmmakers, vloggers, and hybrid creators.
Replacing the R5 C, the C50 features a 32MP full-frame sensor, 7K RAW recording, 4K at 120fps, and Canon’s trusted Dual Pixel AF II. It drops the EVF and mechanical shutter to stay lightweight (~700g) and optimized for video-first use. The body includes a fully articulating screen, tally light, and a large record button, making it gimbal- and rig-friendly.
Expected to retail between $3,499 and $3,999, the C50 positions itself as a direct competitor to Sony’s FX3 but with deeper Canon lens ecosystem integration. It's also rumored to support dual CFexpress Type B slots, C-Log2/3, dual base ISO, and 15+ stops of dynamic range.
With a blend of power and portability, the C50 could become the go-to tool for solo shooters, doc filmmakers, and content creators demanding cinema-grade results in a compact body.
