iQOO 16 Gets GalaxyCore's 50MP GC50F0 as Its Ultrawide Sensor

GalaxyCore has confirmed that its 50MP GC50F0 image sensor is the ultrawide camera in the new iQOO 16 flagship. The sensor is built on GalaxyCore's GalaxyCell 2.0 process. It has a 1/2.8-inch optical format and 0.64μm pixels, and it supports 50MP output and 4K video recording.

Camera System

The ultrawide is one part of a triple 50MP setup:

  1. Main camera: 1/1.3-inch 50MP sensor. iQOO says it gathers 79% more light than the iQOO 15's main camera.
  2. Telephoto: 50MP Sony periscope lens with CIPA 5.5-rated stabilization.
  3. Ultrawide: GalaxyCore GC50F0 (1/2.8-inch, 0.64μm pixels).
  4. Front: 32MP GalaxyCore GC32E1.

The phone records video up to 8K and supports up to 100x digital zoom.

Display

The iQOO 16 has a 6.85-inch 2K AMOLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. It is a Samsung panel using the M16 emitter material. It is rated at 1,100 nits manual peak brightness, 2,800 nits full-screen and 10,000 nits local peak. It also has 3,300Hz PWM dimming and a pixel density of 508ppi.

Performance and Battery

  1. Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (2nm), with CPU clocks up to 5.01GHz
  2. Gaming chip: iQOO's Q4, plus Q-flex touch control with up to 5,000Hz instant touch sampling
  3. AnTuTu: over 5.57 million (company figure)
  4. Memory and storage: up to 16GB LPDDR5X Ultra Pro RAM and 1TB UFS 4.1
  5. Cooling: 8,500mm² vapor chamber
  6. Battery: 8,400mAh silicon-anode cell with 100W wired and 40W wireless charging, plus reverse charging
  7. Software: OriginOS 7 based on Android 17
  8. Other: IP68/IP69 rating, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, IR blaster, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers

Price and Availability

The iQOO 16 launched in China on September 29, alongside the iQOO Pad Ultra. Prices in China:

  1. 12GB + 256GB: CNY 5,999 (about $900)
  2. 12GB + 512GB: CNY 6,799
  3. 16GB + 512GB: CNY 7,499
  4. 16GB + 1TB: CNY 8,499

It comes in three finishes: Chasing Light, Legend and Track. No global launch date has been announced.
