iPhone 18 Pro Leak: Dynamic Island to Shrink by 35% for a Cleaner Look

A new leak has revealed a potential design change coming to Apple's next premium iPhones. According to reliable tipster Ice Universe, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature a significantly smaller Dynamic Island cutout on the display.

The leak provides specific dimensions, stating the new cutout will measure 13.49mm in width. This is a substantial reduction compared to the 20.76mm cutout found on the current iPhone 17 Pro models. This translates to roughly a 35% decrease in size.

If this leak is accurate, the result will be a much less intrusive black area at the top of the screen. This would free up more usable screen space and give the phones a cleaner, more modern appearance.

This shrinkage is likely linked to another persistent rumor: that Apple will finally move the Face ID sensors under the display on the Pro models. By hiding these components beneath the screen, the physical cutout required for them can be made much smaller.

The display itself is also rumored to receive an upgrade. Reports suggest the iPhone 18 Pro series will use advanced LTPO+ OLED panels, which could offer better power efficiency and higher brightness than the current LTPO technology. Additionally, the entire iPhone 18 lineup is said to be getting upgraded selfie cameras.

While this change may seem like a minor detail, a 35% smaller Dynamic Island could make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use, making the screen feel more immersive. As with all leaks, these details should be treated as rumors until Apple makes an official announcement. The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to launch in the fall of 2026.
