Apple Releases Ninth Developer Betas for iOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, and More Ahead of September Launch
Apple has rolled out the ninth developer betas for its upcoming suite of operating systems, including iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26. The updates are part of Apple's final pre-release testing phase ahead of its expected September launch event.
The ninth beta builds arrive just over a week after the eighth betas, continuing the rapid pace of development seen throughout August. Here's a breakdown of the new build numbers:
-
iOS 26 beta 9: Build 23A5336a (replaces 23A5330a)
-
iPadOS 26 beta 9: Build 23A5336a
-
macOS Tahoe 26 beta 9: Build 25A5351b (replaces 25A5349a)
-
watchOS 26 beta 9: Build 23R5350b
-
tvOS 26 beta 9: Build 23J5351a
-
visionOS 26 beta 9: Build 23M5335b
Apple's "26-generation" OS family is shaping up to be one of the most unified and visually consistent releases in recent years. The major standout across all platforms is the new Liquid Glass interface, a sleek and modern design language based on transparency and refraction. It's designed to create a more immersive and consistent visual experience across iPhones, iPads, Macs, and even Apple Vision Pro.
Other major changes expected in iOS 26 include:
-
Improved battery management tools
-
A redesigned Camera app
-
Feature enhancements for AirPods, including improved switching and spatial audio controls
The previous developer beta (beta 8) focused on performance refinements, while beta 7 reintroduced blood oxygen monitoring for Apple Watch and tweaked the Control Center background to improve readability under the new Liquid Glass UI.
As always, Apple urges developers and testers not to install these betas on primary or mission-critical devices. Beta software can lead to instability, data loss, or app incompatibility, so backups are strongly recommended.
With Apple’s September keynote likely just days away, these ninth betas may be among the final builds before the Release Candidate (RC) versions drop. Public releases of the final OS versions are expected to begin rolling out later in September.
