Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G Launch With Massive 7,500mAh Batteries

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17 5G and Redmi 17 4G in Malaysia as part of its global rollout, targeting the affordable smartphone market with huge batteries, 120Hz displays and updated processors.

The biggest highlight is the 7,500mAh battery shared by both phones, along with 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

The Redmi 17 5G uses Qualcomm's 4nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, reaching up to 2.4GHz, while the Redmi 17 4G uses MediaTek's 12nm Helio G91 Ultra. Another important difference is storage: the 5G version gets faster UFS 2.2, while the 4G model uses eMMC 5.1.

Both phones feature a 6.9-inch 1600 × 720 display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 7i protection, a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera. They also include NFC, a side fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm headphone jack and IP64 dust and splash resistance.

Dynamic RGB Notification Light

Xiaomi has also added a Dynamic RGB light around the rear camera area for calls, notifications and other alerts, giving the budget Redmi lineup a more distinctive design.

In Malaysia, launch promotional pricing starts at:

• Redmi 17 4G 4GB + 128GB: RM669
• Redmi 17 5G 4GB + 128GB: RM769
• Redmi 17 5G 4GB + 256GB: RM869

The regular prices are RM699, RM799 and RM899 respectively, with the promotional pricing reported to run through August 31, 2026.
